Chutneys is thick sauce of Indian origin that contains fruits, vinegar, sugar, and spices and is used as a condiment & Indian pickles, also known as achar, have a long history dating back to ancient times. They were traditionally used as a way to preserve fruits and vegetables during the hot summer months when fresh produce was scarce. The pickling process involved marinating the fruits or vegetables in a mixture of salt, oil, and spices, which helped to inhibit the growth of bacteria and prolong their shelf life.
